You can use co.mments by registering for an account, or without registering. Here's a brief overview to explain the differences.
Contents |
Do I need to register?
You can track conversations without registering for a new account. When you start tracking a conversation, we create an anonymous account for you, so you can track conversations and follow comments in your feed reader.
We don't limit how you use co.mments, but there are certain things you need to know.
Is there a reason to register?
When you register, you can access co.mments using your username and password. You can login from any computer, and any browser. You can keep tracking conversations for as long as you want.
Without registration, co.mments uses a cookie to identify your Web browser. You can always use your Web browser to track conversations. But if you change your Web browser, or switch to a different computer, you can no longer access these conversations.
If want to always have access to the conversations you are tracking, we recommend registering for an account.
What happens when I register?
When you register for a new account, we give you the option to transfer all the conversations you are currently tracking to your new account.
One thing that does change is your tracking feed. When you register, we create a new feed for holding the same conversations and any conversations you track from your new account. It's a different feed from the one you used before.
Update yout feed reader to your new tracking feed. Your tracking feed is the Subscribe link appearing at the top right corner of your tracking page.
How can I tell if I'm logged in or not?
If you are logged in, you will see your usename at the top of the Web page, next to the co.mments, help and discuss links. If it shows your username, then you are logged in.
If it doesn't show your username, use the 'login / register' link.
You will also see your username when using the bookmarklet. If you are not logged in, you will not see your username and the bookmarklet will remind you to login.
If you never registerd for an account, ignore the reminder.
Oops. I bookmarked a conversation without logging in.
It happens.
The bookmarklet will remind you to register, click on the link to login. Or go to the main page and login. When you login, the conversation you just bookmarked is added to your tracking list.
It's that simple.
